About us

Working Toward Excellence is a regular publication of the Alabama Best Practices Center, located in Montgomery, AL. ABPC works to identify and advocate for promising education practices, with an emphasis on professional development for teachers and administrators.

This special web edition of Working Toward Excellence (Summer 2007) was researched, developed and written by John Norton and Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, ABPC’s consultants for 21st Century learning, and created by designer Amber Nussbaum. The first two years of our 21st Century Schools project has been funded by Microsoft Corporation's Partners in Learning program.

The Alabama Best Practices Center works closely with the Alabama State Department of Education, the ALSDE Office of Technology Initiatives, higher education, local school systems and schools, regional inservice centers, and other state and national organizations to promote teaching quality and student achievement.

ABPC is facilitated by the A+ Education Foundation, with the generous support of BellSouth Foundation (now AT&T Foundation), Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, Microsoft Corporation, Wachovia Foundation, and the State of Alabama.
